When is Independence Municipal Court?
Hours of Operation of Independence Municipal Court are:
8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Court Clerk telephones are answered from 8:00 a.m. through 3:30 p.m., but do not to expect to get far with this. Independence Municipal Court is under-funded and there are, frankly too few court clerks to ideally handle the case volume. This court’s staff works very hard…
The Cashier’s office operates from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Expect a line of approximately fifteen minutes.
When are Independence Municipal Court Sessions?
The Court is in session on TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, and THURSDAY. Independence Municipal Court dockets are 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.

The Independence Municipal Court is presided by: Judge Garry L. Helm. He handles the majority of Independence Municipal Court traffic citations, Driving While Intoxicated, and other misdemeanor crimes from Independence Police Department.
Judge Susan Watkins also handles a number of the dockets. You will also see her on the Friday Domestic Violence docket.
Who are the Prosecutors?
Independence Municipal Court Prosecutor, Mitch Langford is the primary prosecutor of Independence City.
