Matt Hamilton here. I grew up around Lake Lotawana. It was basically an in-between community between Pleasant Hill, Lone Jack, and Lee’s Summit. You had to really like white trash folks to like Lake Lotawana. As a boy, my school bus drove daily through Lake Lotawana. These were my friends. It was a long drive, and we talked much. My Lake Lotawana friends were the best, but they were trashy, in candor. Land values were low. Police were a pain. Houses were crap. The lake was silted in, with bad water, bad docks, little room to boat, and not much going for it.
BUT, those times have passed! Loose regulations and proximity have transformed Lake Lotawana into one of the premiere housing communities in America. The new homes and additions can only be described as “awesome.” Big boats, massive docks, room for the new rich to flaunt, and all within driving distance of whatever one might want. Just … Don’t … Speed … on the roads!
